The Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife has been plunged into mourning once again following the tragic death of another student, Olajide Jesujuwonlo, from the Department of Religious Studies, Faculty of Arts.
This heartbreaking news comes barely a week after the university lost Esu Ema, a final-year student from the Department of Foreign Languages, in the same Faculty.
The campus, which was still reeling from the shock and grief of Ema’s passing, has been further shaken by the sudden death of Jesujuwonlo.

The President of National Association For Students Of Religious Studies, OAU, Comrade Akinnibi Miftau confirmed in a statement that Jesujuwonlo died on Tuesday evening after a brief illness.
He wrote, “It is with profound sadness and shock that we announce the sudden passing of Olajide Jesujuwonlo, a Part 3 student of the Religious Studies department at Obafemi Awolowo University.
“Olajide’s untimely death occurred today, following a brief illness that took his life. His passing has left us in a state of disbelief and grief.
“The university community has lost a bright and promising student, and Olajide’s absence will be deeply felt by his colleagues, friends, and family.”
“We are still struggling to come to terms with this tragic loss, and our hearts are heavy with sorrow.
“During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with Olajide’s family and loved ones, may they find strength and comfort in the days ahead. May Olajide’s soul rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew him,” he further stated.
