Truck kills Motorcyclist in Osun, Driver flees

A tragic accident occurred in Osogbo, Osun State, on Tuesday, resulting in the death of a commercial motorcyclist. The motorcyclist, whose identity has not been released, was crushed by a truck carrying sand along East Bye Pass in Oke Osun Area.

The accident caused panic in the neighborhood, with bystanders witnessing the incident from a close distance.

A roadside corn seller, who saw the accident, was visibly distraught while recounting the events. “The driver of the truck fled the area shortly after the accident,” she said, still shaken by what she witnessed.

Another resident, Tajudeen, reported that the passenger being conveyed by the motorcyclist was injured and rushed to a hospital in Osogbo. He described the accident as a collision between the truck and the motorcycle, resulting in the motorcyclist’s death on the spot.

“The accident occurred Tuesday afternoon in Oke Osun along East Bye Pass in Osogbo. It involved a truck and an okada carrying a man wearing a uniform. The motorcyclist was killed on the spot. His lifeless body is on the ground there, while the officer who was wounded has been taken to a hospital in Osogbo here,” Tajudeen said.

The Osun State Police Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed that the traffic section of the command is handling the matter.

“Traffic section is handling the matter. One life was lost. The situation is under control. A truck and motorcycle were involved in the accident,” she stated.
