Osun Government Begins Implementation of CNG Conversion Initiative

Governor Ademola Adeleke has announced that Osun State has been implementing a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion and adoption initiative for the past eight months. The initiative aims to convert Imole buses to the CNG model, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and promoting a cleaner environment.

In a statement signed by his Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke highlighted the state’s partnership with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) and three private companies, including a local CNG firm, to drive the initiative.

The Governor emphasized that the CNG adoption is part of the state’s energy policy, aimed at powering the agro-industrialization plan for Osun State. He noted that the Ministry of Energy and Transport has been working tirelessly to ensure the initiative’s success, despite technical challenges.

Governor Adeleke stated, “As a government, we are very proactive. That’s why we gave Osun its first ICT and Tech Innovation Policies. That’s why the state’s Electricity Market bill is now ready for legislative action. The CNG option is part of the incoming state energy policy.”

He added, “Ours is not an analog government that did nothing to implement digital economy agenda, tech innovation plan, and energy market system in Osun State.

” We are digital-driven with a full plan to adopt modern innovations and alternative power sources to power our agro-industrialization plan for the state”, he said.
