Makinde woos Investors at OYSIPA dinner, says Oyo is open for business

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has wooed both potential and existing investors to the state with a promise of a safe and secure environment.

Speaking on Tuesday at a dinner organized by Oyo State Investment and Public Private Partnership (OYSIPA), held at Golden Tulip, Ibadan, the Governor noted that Oyo state is open for business.

He added that Oyo is one of the safest states in the country, maintaining that the current administration is providing enabling environment to ensure business thrives.

Governor Makinde, who spoke through his Deputy, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, emphasized that the dinner is apposite for bringing potential and existing investors together with the goal of showcasing the state’s investment potential through OYSIPA and SAfER.


According to Lawal, “This gathering will make investors to know what Oyo State government is doing and to encourage them to do business in the state.

“There are vast untapped potentials in Oyo state, potential investors and existing investors will know that the state is too vast in resources that even this generation can not exhaust.

“In the midst of investors that we have in agriculture, solid minerals, land, tourism and culture among others, the gathering is for you to know what our government is doing.”

The Deputy Governor, who maintained that the administration has pride itself in the provision of food, said there is vast land and enabling environment in Oyo state for investors to tapped in, just as he said that the government is not taking the issue of agriculture lightly.

According to him, research by World bank and African development bank has showed that Nigeria is about 25% of the entire population of Africa which simply implies that investment in agriculture is having Nigeria as the primary focus due to its market, land, among others.

He stated that farm settlement was recently commissioned in Eruwa likewise Fashola in Oyo, Akufo among others, adding that there are lot of virgin land to be tapped by investors.

According to the Deputy Governor, Oyo State is well-positioned for investors to make a good investment, which is why the government has been investing in energy.


He also emphasised the need for investors to focus on land, saying that the current administration’s aim is to open space for land development.

The Deputy Governor stated that land should also be make open to investors who care to develop estate, agric among others and noted that the government is ready to open the space for Oyo state development.

He said: “We are making sure that Prospective investors can do business in Oyo state. They should invest in land. We don’t have any legal issue. We have vast virgin land.

“Investors can also tap from solid minerals particularly on lithium, please kindly make way to the office Hon. Abiodun Oni who is the Chairman on Solid minerals, and also relate with OYSIPA.

“Our government is providing enabling environment to ensure business thrives particularly on solid minerals which is on the exclusive list.

“The enabling environment is always being created under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, there is adequate market and disposable income to back it up for investors.

“In Oyo state, because of intentional and motivation that we are driving, we have made it possible to create infrastructural facilities for investors, industrialists, commercialists, among others.

“Oyo is open for business. Come, If you are in doubt of anything, approach the governor, approach whichever agency of government with your intention to do business in Oyo state.

“This dinner is key and apposite so that potential investors can see and understand where Oyo government is coming from as a state under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.

“The current administration has pride itself in Logic, Science and Data to move the state forward.”

The Deputy Governor however commended the Director General of Oyo State Investment and Public Private Partnership Agency (OYSIPA) Mr. Tilewa Folami for bringing potential and existing investors to the dinner for greater opportunities.

Speaking with newsmen earlier, Mr Tilewa noted that the dinner is to engage with investors and show case what Governor Seyi Makinde administration is doing and to harness great opportunity.


He added that Oyo state remain one of the safest state to do business while calling on investors to partner with Oyo state government.

When asked about some of the achievements of the OYSIPA, the DG disclosed that the ongoing circular road was being facilitated by the agency among others stating that the agency will continue to be focus for the state’s development.

The event was attended by several investors, government functionaries including the commissioner for finance, Hon. Akinola Ojo; commissioner for works and transport, Prof. Daud Sangodoyin; commissioner for environment, Mr. Magbonjubola Jagaban; commissioner for lands, Mr. Williams Akin Funmilayo; commissioner for youths and sports, Miss. Wasilat Adegoke; DG mineral devt agency, Abiodun Oni and a host of others.
