The Iseyin-Fapote-Ogbomoso expressway, referred to as Alao Akala Expressway, has been shut to heavy duty trucks and trailers.
This decision was taken to protect the newly commissioned road from trailers that divert from the Federal Government Ibadan-Oyo-Ogbomoso road which is yet to be completed after several years.

In a statement released by the Honorable Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, he stated that the Ministry of Public Works had to quickly move in and block the road from heavy duty vehicles because the expressway was designed for lighter vehicles like cars and buses and not trailers.
According to the state Commissioner for Public Works, Prof Dawoud Sangodoyin, ‘This road was designed primarily to link the state agrarian transportation, traders and intercity commuters all targetting the development of oyo state economy.’

With the incursion of the road by heavy trailers, the road structure which is strong and resilient may be adversely affected and defeat the purpose for which it was built.
“The Ministry of Public Works has taken steps to temporarily seal all roads linking the Expressway while only buses, cabstars and cars are allowed to ply the route until further notice.
The Commissioner said that the Iseyin-Fapote-Ogbomoso Expressway, spanning 76.67 kilometers through previously uncharted terrain of lakes and rocks, was commissioned on May 30, 2024.
