A devastating fire incident occurred at Gbaremu market in Ibadan North, Oyo State capital, on Saturday, destroying shops and goods worth millions of naira. This comes just a week after a similar incident at Oranyan market in Ibadan.
Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Electoral Matters, expressed deep sympathy with the affected traders, describing the incident as “heartbreaking” and a “significant loss” to the community.
“My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this tragic fire outbreak. I understand the immense pain and hardship this has caused, and I pray for strength and quick recovery for all the victims,” Senator Alli said in a statement.
He called for a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire to prevent future occurrences and urged relevant agencies to support the victims. “I assure the victims of my continued support and urge government agencies to provide necessary assistance to help the affected traders recover from their losses.”
The incident has left many traders in distress, with millions of naira lost in goods and properties. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, but authorities have promised to investigate and provide support to the affected traders.
