The Osun State Government is undertaking a comprehensive upgrade of tourist sites, including the popular Erin Ijesha Waterfalls, as part of its tourism agenda. The State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, made this disclosure in response to a viral video highlighting the site’s neglect.
The upgrade plan covers various cultural sites, including the Osun groove, Owala inland beach resort, Sango Timi Shrine, Ayunkunnugba water falls, and others. Governor Adeleke has directed the fast-tracking of renewal initiatives for Erin Ijesha Water Falls, including the formation of a tripartite committee for site management.
The management of Erin-Ijesha Waterfall site is currently under the purview of the Erin Ijesha community, ensuring localisation and local content to boost the local cultural and tourism industry.
A tripartite meeting between the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Ministry of Information and Public Enlightenment, and the leaders of Erin-Ijesa Community will be held to discuss environmental maintenance and a mutually beneficial template.
Commissioner Alimi assured the public that the Osun State government has a comprehensive tourism agenda, which includes public-private partnerships. The meeting aims to increase the phase of reforms, satisfying the aspirations of the community and tourism stakeholders.
The Osun government is passionate about tourism, outlining it as one of its five-point agenda. The state is open to public-private partnerships to enhance its tourism industry.
