Founder, Hope Also Need Help Foundation, Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro, politically and popularly known as Bibire has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of 14-year-old Kehinde Alade, who was shot dead by a police officer in Ibadan on his way to sit for his WAEC examination.
Bibire, who reacted to the sad but avoidable development in a statement he issued to journalists, stated that no circumstance should justify the loss of a young life, particularly one enveloped with promise and potential.
“It breaks the heart that a boy who woke up with hope and academic pursuit could end up lifeless due to avoidable violence,” Bibire said.
He lamented the rising rate of careless shootings and unchecked aggression by security operatives in the name of law enforcement.
“We cannot continue to normalize the spilling of innocent blood in a society that claims to value order and justice,” he stated.
Bibire stressed that while law enforcement remains critical to a functioning society, it must never override the sanctity of life.
“Whatever might have transpired between the officers and the father of the child, it should never have led to a shot being fired where a child was seated,” he maintained.
Speaking further, Bibire said, “Whatever the circumstances might have been, life is too sacred, too valuable, and too irreplaceable to be wasted under any guise.
“If we claim to build a future, then we must protect the children who are meant to live in it.”
He urged the police authorities and the Oyo State Government to ensure that full justice is served without delay or excuse.

“The boy’s death must not go unnoticed in the dust of bureaucracy or blame games.
“Justice must not only be promised but delivered in full so that the soul of that young boy is not left crying beneath the earth,” Bibire said firmly.
The retired US Navy veteran also called on civil society, community leaders, and well-meaning Nigerians to stay vigilant in demanding accountability.
“When things like this happen and we remain quiet, we are saying with our silence that the next child’s life doesn’t matter,” he warned.
He extended his condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for strength in this difficult time.
“I weep with the family, and I pray that God will give them the courage to survive this sorrowful moment,” he prayed.
