Adeleke Sets To Inaugurate Imole Corps, Recruit New Teachers, Charged Party Members To Be United

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has revealed plans to launch the Imole Youth Corps, a youth empowerment scheme designed to provide opportunities for young people in the state to develop their skills and contribute to the development of the state. He announced while speaking on Tuesday at the stakeholders meeting of Osun State People Democratic Party (PDP), at the Government House in Osogbo.

In a statement made available to OYSUN News by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke emphasized the importance of empowering young people in the state, saying that the Imole Youth Corps will provide training, mentorship, and employment opportunities for thousands of young people in the state.

In addition to the launch of the Imole Youth Corps, Governor Adeleke also addressed the recent EndBadGovernance protests, which began a few days ago. He commended the protesters for their peaceful conduct and assured them that their voices had been heard. The Governor also announced that a government delegation has met with the protesters and promised to submit their demands to the President.

Governor Adeleke also took the opportunity to highlight his administration’s achievements, citing the payment of bursaries to students, disbursement of almost N4 billion to cooperative bodies in Osun, construction of several roads and bridges, payment of almost N2 billion for half salary and cooperative deductions, and renovation of health centres and educational facilities.

Furthermore, the Governor announced that new teachers will be recruited soon to address the shortage of teachers in the state’s schools. This move is seen as a key initiative in the Governor’s efforts to improve the quality of education in the state.

In his address, Governor Adeleke also appealed to party members to remain united and disciplined, emphasizing the importance of party cohesion in the forthcoming local government elections. He warned against internal conflicts and urged party members to work together to ensure victory for the party.

“We all know that this local government election is key for our 2026 governorship election. We must not allow personal interest to supercede the general interest of the party. I task us to remember that we have a wounded opposition that is desperately seeking to destroy the state. We should not give them ammunition to use against us”, the Governor added.

The Chairman of the party, Hon Sunday Bisi, also spoke at the meeting, reiterating the party’s commitment to providing a level playing field for all interested candidates. He announced that guidelines will be issued for each local government to elect their candidates, and warned against taking party issues to social media, threatening sanctions for non-compliance.

“We want to assure all party members that we will provide a fair and transparent process for the selection of candidates for the local government elections,” Hon Bisi said. “We will not impose any candidates on the party, and we will ensure that all interested candidates are given equal opportunities to contest.”

He also emphasized the importance of party discipline and unity, saying that the party cannot afford to be divided at this critical moment and every party member must work together to ensure victory for our party in the forthcoming elections. He further charged party members to put aside their interests and work towards the common goal of winning the elections.”

Hon Bisi also warned against the dangers of social media, saying that it can be used to spread false information and create divisions within the party. According to him, all issues of the party should not be taken to social media pages and henceforth the party will begin to monitor and may sanction any party member who fails to comply
